Started in May 2024, Asia-Pacific Museum Exchange (APME) is a new initiative and pilot program organized by the UH Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS) in partnership with the Cultural Heritage Bureau of the U.S. Department of State and National Park Service. The inaugural cohort of 13 fellows were selected to participate in the Face2Face Workshop at UH Mānoa in July 2025.

The 13 fellows are museum curators, educators, archivists, collections managers, and cultural stewards from various museums in Vanuatu, Saipan, Palau, American Samoa, the Solomon Islands, Brunei, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The workshop consisted of site-visits to various museums, archives, and historic sites around Oʻahu, where they shared and discussed best practices with Honolulu-based museum professionals and collaborated on developing renewed policies and practices of museum work and collections care.
