Call for Volunteers: CSEAS Graduate Student Opportunity

The Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS) at UH Mānoa is seeking four graduate student volunteers to support transcription work for our LuceSEA webinar series.
This opportunity allows students to gain hands-on experience in academic publishing, digital marketing, and cross-cultural communication, while contributing to the global visibility of Southeast Asia-focused scholarship.
Volunteer Responsibilities
- Produce accurate transcripts to support YouTube captioning and archiving
- Assist with editing transcripts for clarity and readability
- Contribute to making LuceSEA resources accessible to a wider audience
Skills You’ll Build
- Academic & professional skills: transcription, publishing, information management
- Transferable skills: digital marketing, YouTube management, online outreach
- Cross-cultural skills: engagement with Southeast Asia–focused content and scholarship
Eligibility
- Open to UH Mānoa graduate students
- Demonstrated interest or background in Southeast Asia required
- Fluency in a Southeast Asian language is required
Time Commitment
- Estimated 20–40 hours per recording
