Our Land is the Sea (Indonesian title: Air Tanahku), film one in the Voicing Diversity Project, is now available to watch on the Center’s website (as well as YouTube). There is also a write up with a list of reading materials for those interested to learn more!

Our Land is the Sea is a short documentary film about three generations of a Bajau family in Wakatobi National Park, Indonesia. The film explores how they’re navigating drastic cultural and environmental change.

The Voicing Diversity Project is a collaboration between the Center for Southeast Asian Studies UHM and the Center for Cross-cultural Studies at Gadjah Mada University, a research and public education center that focuses on religious life in Indonesia and the diversity it contains.
