NREM Seminar: Southeast Asia and Climate Adaptation
October 25, 2017 @ 3:30 PM - 4:20 PM
via NREM —
Please join us 3:30-4:20 pm Wednesday, October 25 for the weekly NREM seminar as Dr. Shelley Gustafson, a consultant with USAID Mekong ARCC & IUCN, presents:
Working at the community level in Southeast Asia to develop strategies for climate change adaptation and natural resource management
Shelley will discuss her recent work in Southeast Asia focusing on two projects: a USAID project on building climate resilience in communities of the Lower Mekong Basin, and a second collaboration with the International Union for Conservation of Nature regarding the sustainable management of peatland ecosystems in mainland Southeast Asia. Shelley will discuss critical themes for working with communities around natural resource management including the merging of scientific and local knowledge as part of the climate change adaptation process; the development of community-driven solutions to natural resource management challenges; and the sustainable management of peatland ecosystems as both climate mitigation and adaptation.
