EWC Art Exhibition: Yangon Echoes

January 29 - May 21

This gallery exhibition is based on the book “Yangon Echoes: Inside Heritage Homes” and will feature photographs, stories of the residence, and artifacts representing aspects of lived heritage in contemporary Yangon Myanmar (Rangoon, Burma). Yangon was the capital of British colonial Burma and consequently it developed as a multicultural, multiethnic, cosmopolitan city in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Due to the political situation for the last fifty years, so much of the historical architecture remained intact until the opening and globalization of Myanmar in the last fifteen years.
