Guest Speakers I Made Sidia and I Made Widana

I Made Sidia is a world-renowned Balinese performing artist with expertise in masked dance, gamelan music and shadow theatre. Sidia’s innovative work in wayang listrik or multimedia shadow theatre production has gained him recognition as one of Bali’s foremost contemporary artists.

I Made Widana is a professional musician, dancer and composer. Widana toured extensively with the highly acclaimed Balinese performing group Cudamani. He is currently the artistic director for the UH Manoa Balinese gamelan ensemble, Gamelan Segara Madu.

Trained as dancers and musicians at the Indonesian Arts Institute Denpasar, both Sidia and Widana will demonstrate the nuances of performing both male and female roles in Balinese dance.
