Workshop on Peacebuilding, Interreligious Relations,

and Diversity in Southeast Asia

Applicants should complete the following online application in addition to submitting additional required materials by the deadline marked above. Please submit additional materials in pdf format to cseas@hawaii.edu. Please use this text in your email subject line to help us manage application documents: “MSI Project_Family Name.”

Documents to send as attachments:

  • A maximum two-page personal statement in which you tell us about yourself. Topics might include how you became interested in teaching/learning/working with issues related to interreligious work, cross-cultural relations, and diversity in your community; what types of students/community learners you work with and what challenges you face in that effort; how you use technology to expand the reach of your teaching/research/learning, etc. Selection of workshop participants will be weighted to favor those who demonstrate a creative educational approach to thinking about deliverables related to the project goals. In this regard, think about successful outreach projects in which you have participated or have noted as achieving real impact in your field/community.
  • A current course syllabus/lesson plan/community project that includes your interreligious work, cross-cultural relations, and/or topics related to diversity as a key component of the course/outreach project/research
  • A copy of your curriculum vitae/résumé
  • Letter of support from your dean or provost attesting to the teaching and research contributions you have made to your institution, or in the case of MSI community outreach leaders/students, a testimonial to the effectiveness/reach of your project
  • Examples of past outreach activities/material development if any (this might include press clips, URLs of online materials, etc.)
